Rockstar has released a third trailer for their upcoming project, Red Dead Redemption II. The sequel to the 2010 neo-Western masterpiece is poised to be one of the most highly anticipated games of 2018 (even arguably the decade). The exciting third-person game, precursor to the events of the first Red Dead Redemption, is officially slated to release this October after a run of delays. This third and final trailer shows us more of the game’s primary character, gangster Arthur Morgan.
Exploring the classic theme of the free American west, Red Dead Redemption II will carry on its predecessor’s love of the duality of man. Themes such as progress, invention, and the struggle to survive the American dream are already very prominent in the three trailers for the game. Narratively, the game appears to set up the decline of the Dutch Van der Linde Gang, the former outlaw group whose members were the primary antagonists of the previous game.
Along that note, and even more exciting is the clear appearance of a younger John Marston for Van der Linde shooter, and protagonists of the original Red Dead Redemption. Set in 1899, this prequel may chronicle Marston’s early years as a young buck in the West, taken under the wing of the charismatic but unstable Dutch.
Red Dead Redemption II will hit the shelves on October 26th for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
