A new in-game story trailer has been released for the upcoming Assassin’s Creed: Origins. During Gamescom, developer Ubisoft debuted a number of new trailers for the anticipated installment in the heritage series, including this cinematic trailer. This new trailer in particular introduces the power struggle and power players present in Ancient Egypt during the time period that Origins is set in. View the trailer below, but let’s just say that empires are on the move, and ambitions are on the rise.
Gathered from previous summaries and trailers during E3, the game’s main character will be Bayak, the founding member of the Brotherhood of Assassins. Shadowy defenders of decency, hooded badasses, and hidden-blade-wielders, the Assassins are the enemies of the Templars, an organization that seeks to find ancient technology lost by a dead civilization. With that established, you can tell that this trailer doesn’t give a damn about the Assassin’s background - this trailer focuses on one of the series’ most fascinating characters: history.
Julius Caesar, Cleopatra, Ptolemy, and more historic figures will clash in Egypt as their interests collide and interact. Bayak, the first assassin, may need find himself on multiple sides of this dynamic, as per Assassin’s Creed fashion. It also introduces some side players that may very well form the Templar’s original organization. Aside from the fascinating historic backstory, the video also shows some pretty impressive combat features and weapons that the game will feature.
Assassin’s Creed: Origins will launch on October 27th for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC. Stay tuned for more news on the exciting game, and for our eventual review and analysis.
