During an outstanding opening for Nintendo, Business Wire has reported that it has sold more copies of Legend of Zelda, than it has the new Nintendo Switch console on which Zelda is played. The report details that over 925,000 copies of Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild have been sold in March, while only 906,000 actual Switch's were sold. A pretty incredible feat for Nintendo, who have been struggling to keep up with Sony and Microsoft's recent console releases.
Breath of the Wild is now, unsurprisingly, the fastest-selling game from Nintendo ever. Couple that together with an almost equally successful rollout of the Switch, and you've got a nice little start to 2017. The heritage video game company may be on track to sell 16 million Switch units by the end of 2017 fiscal year.
Nintendo is slated to release a report on their global sales of both Breath of the Wild in a few weeks. A deeper insight into their performance will likely come with it.
