Earlier this week, Inside and Limbo developer Playdead hit fans and followers alike with a teaser on their twitter account that sparked plenty of interest and even more speculation.

The tweet and image collectively reveal @Playdead’s new endeavor in a manner that gives a few answers while asking even more questions. First, it can be assumed that the next title will have similar mechanics of the previous two Playdead adventures: a side-scrolling puzzle game that could also have familiar and simple control schemes to Limbo and Inside. What else can be said?

Well, the next adventurer appears to be wearing a helmet, indicating a unique and hostile environment. Some have speculated outer space, especially due to the meteor in the background. Another thing to notice is the ground could be potentially covered in snow, a new dimension of physics that Playdead hasn’t experimented with yet. Lastly, the graphical improvement shows a bold new art direction for Arnt Jensen and his team, which leads to the last and most important question:

When will it hit the shelves?
