This March will usher in the first paid expansion for DICE's Battlefield 1. This popular online multiplayer is the following the trend that publisher Electronic Arts has set for years: paid downloadable content. With that being said, the game is likely to have nothing but improvements an quality content introduced to it, no matter the cost. According to a blog post released by DICE today, They Shall Not Pass will introduce the harrowing Battle of Verdun to the game, as well as a number of new features.

The Battle of Verdun was fought between the French and Germans for over 9 months, and is considered one of the most devastating battles of the Great War. DICE aims to put players in the middle of a formidable struggle amid scorched forests, mud caked towns and a labyrinth of underground forts. The blog post showed a number of concept art pieces showcasing Battlefield 1's newest content. See the slideshow below for your first look.

The most notable of the new content is the new army. Players speculated that the Battlefield 1 would introduce new national armies, and they were correct. The map will pit the German's against the newly playable French army. That and new weapons and battlepacks will line the pockets of Battlefield 1 Premium Pass holders.

DICE's Battlefield 1: They Shall Not Pass will hit Premium Pass members on Xbox One, PS4 and PC in March of 2017.
