A New Gears of War 4 Trailer Shows a New Generation Torn Apart

The ultra-violent and emotional thrill ride that is Gears of War is nigh. New developer The Coalition and Microsoft Studios have released the launch trailer for the highly anticipated Gears of War 4. After its official announcement during the 2015 Electronic Entertainment Expo, gamers went wild. The Gears of War Trilogy is beloved by many, and is hailed as one of the most sensational games of the decade. Fun, story-driven violence that gamers are very open to welcoming back into their lives.

This new, and final narrative-based trailer shows us quite a lot, and gives so much context. Until now, we've only been getting bits and pieces of substantial plot points all hidden in gameplay demos. Now we have a solidified setting and plot line. Twenty-five years after the end of the Human-Locust War, a young man named JD, the son of famed ass-kicker Marcus Fenix, must face a terrifying new force that threatens his family and friends. The world is partially rebuilt, and human society has flourished (which we get a brief but enriching look at). More importantly, this trailer features the classic, unrelenting visual thrill that the previous three games mastered so well.

Terror, chainsaws and revered characters will return when Gears of War 4 is released on October 11 for Xbox One and Windows PC.
