Game developer Hangar 13 has released a new story trailer for Mafia III, and also announced its release date as October 2, 2016. This new installment in the crime thriller saga takes us from the Big Apple to the Big Easy in a reimagined New Orleans called New Bordeaux. The game looks like a promising open-world piece with plenty of cool cars to drive cars, bad guys to shoot, and revenge to be served cold. Or hot. Or whatever.
Players will live through the eyes of Lincoln Clay, a local African-American gangster who's friends are wiped out by the Italian Mafia. From there, Clay will have to build his own crime syndicate and hammer away at the Mob's presence in this 1968 Orlean-esque period piece.
This trailer shows us a lot of what the game will be. A series of gameplay footage includes some great car chases and shootouts. Clay is a grizzly Vietnam veteran, and the new trailer also showcases some of his combative abilities. This guy is big, strong, and angry. From what the premise tells us, this will be another classic revenge story.
A game that clearly has the potential to be great, Mafia III boasts some pretty great characteristics. Just from the trailer, we can see that the series has embraced the visual capabilities of next-generation consoles. The world of New Bordeaux looks beautiful, violent, and ready for players to raise hell in.
